Have a question?
We have the answers
What equipment do you recycle?
We collect all forms of laptops, simply get in touch and let us know what you need to dispose of and we’ll tell you how we can help.
How much do you charge?
Our service is free of charge. We do not charge for collection, documentation or certification. We have no hidden costs.
Should I erase my Data?
Yes!
We do send all hard drives received for destruction, but If you haven’t got the time or it’s too complex to remove your hard drive before you send your laptop to us, we recommend that you permanently delete all personal and private data so that it can’t be retrieved.
Follow these four simple steps:
- Back up important files, such as documents and photos, and transfer them to your new computer, an external hard drive or iCloud. Remember to record the licence numbers of software you may need to reinstall on your new devices.
- Sign out of all accounts on your device.
- Remove any Memory cards.
- Destroy your data.
Windows Operating System
- Back up important files such as documents and photos you want to keep and transfer them to your new computer, an external hard drive, or the Cloud (e.g. Onedrive or Dropbox).
- Destroy your data using data shredding software, such as Eraser. This program overwrites deleted data multiple times to erase all traces, making it almost impossible for anyone to retrieve it.
- Do a factory reset to remove your added files and programmes, leaving only the basic operating systems and pre-installed programmes: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.
Apple Operating System
- Back up important files, such as documents and photos, and transfer them to your new computer, an external hard drive or iCloud.
- Sign out of iCloud. If you’re using macOS Catalina or later: Apple menu > System preferences > Apple ID > Overview > Sign out. If you’re using macOS or earlier: Apple menu > System preferences > iCloud > Sign out.
- Sign out of Music (iTunes). Open Music (iTunes): Account > Authorisations > Deauthorize this computer > Enter your Apple ID > Deauthorize.
- Sign out of iMessage Open Messages: Messages > Preferences > iMessage > Sign out.
- Destroy your data by erasing your hard drive to remove any files and programmes you’ve added > Restart Your Mac > Open in Recovery Mode by holding Command + R until you see the Apple logo > Erase your data. Apple has more detailed information and support HERE
Beware: once deleted, there is no way of recovering your data.
How do I qualify for a free IT collection?
All UK businesses qualify for free collection. We only recycle laptops and have no minimum requirements.
How fast can you come and collect?
Our collection availability can range from 24 hours through to 7 days maximum subject to your requirements.
Can we leave the equipment outside ready for collection?
We advise against this, as it may become a security threat, especially if you have data on board the equipment. Furthermore, this may eliminate any asset re-use if adverse weather contaminates the equipment.
Can we get money back for our unwanted IT?
Yes, if a laptop is worth a significant value it may be possible that the sale of the assets covers the entire process, from collection to refurbishment, data destruction and re-marketing, leaving us able to return a rebate directly to you.
